Interview by Stephin McCloskey

Over the last three months I have had the pleasure of speaking with Charles Drain about his high school football career on a few occasions, but on January 29, 2023, he announced his commitment to Clarion University, so I had to jump at the chance to speak with him about his soon to begin college career. In the last year Drain has won LL Section 4 Defensive Lineman of the Year and made 1st Team All-Academic. Drain also led the #12 seed Cocalico Eagles to a District 3 championship which had never been done before. Leading the Eagles to achieving a district title, Drain was one of the best lineman in the state, on the field and off of it. From 717 Sports Media to Chuckie Drain, Congratulations on your commitment.

SM: You committed to Clarion University, what set them apart from other schools you were interested in?

Drain: Clarion is an excellent school for my major- Secondary Math Education. Their facilities are state of the art. Most importantly, after spending time with the coaches, I felt like I was HOME!

SM: What was your favorite memory playing for the Cocalico Eagles?

Drain: My favorite memory is actually winning the District Championship game twice and the police and fire truck escorts through town while on our bus.

SM: What are you looking forward to going into your freshman year of college in August?

Drain: I’m looking forward to all of it- playing in the PSAC, the opportunity to play against great competition, learning from an amazing coaching staff. I’m really excited and blessed to play football while earning my degree.

SM: Finally, do you have any suggestions for juniors in high school who want to play collegiately?

Drain: Go to the camps. Be open minded about all division levels. Make sure the school has your major and you like the campus. Communicate with the coaches constantly! Email, text, call, social media. Follow them all on Twitter! Send film a lot! Stay in communication always and do not give up! Hard work pays off!
