Interview by Stephin McCloskey

Luke Hines has been a star for the Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers in multiple sports. He was an all-conference selection in football and is having another stellar basketball season. The Senior just signed his letter of intent with Shippensburg this pas week, he stopped by to speak with 717Sports Stephin McCloskey, conversation is below:

SM: What was the deciding factor in committing to Shippensburg University?

LH: I think the deciding factor were the coaches and players in the program. They made me feel very welcome and it seemed like a perfect fit for me academically as well.

SM: With graduation right around the corner, what’s been your best memory for both football and basketball?

LH: My favorite memory from basketball was winning section, league, and districts. We went on that crazy run last year.

SM: Do you have any tips for someone who may want to pursue football collegiately?

LH: I would say that if you work hard any chance you get and make the most of your opportunities your chances will come to you.

SM: What does your off-season look like? I’m asking because you’ve come prepared and are having a great season with basketball and you played great on the football field in the fall.

LH: During basketball season I do some light working out and once basketball is over I spend the spring working out a lot harder and lifting more with the team and playing basketball any time I get. I’m always trying to be faster and stronger.

Hines and company are looking to hold off Octorara Friday night for the section 3 title. Watching him up close you know this young man is certainly going to be a huge factor. Congrats to Luke Hines on his commitment to Shippensburg, the Red Raiders have themselves a number of playmakers from the LL Berks league.
